The Impressionist Nook: The Home of Impressionism in New Zealand

The Impressionist Nook at Whirinaki proudly showcases products, publications, and gifts inspired by our boutique Pumpkin Cottage Collection and the early Impressionist movement in both New Zealand and Europe.

From Paris to Upper Hutt, The Impressionist Nook features gifts inspired by the pioneering Impressionists of the late 1800s—artists such as Monet and Van Gogh—and celebrates the influence they had on the early Impressionist painters here in Upper Hutt.

Our boutique Pumpkin Cottage Collection highlights local artists who were strongly shaped by the Impressionist movement that emerged in Paris in the 1870s, when artists broke free from the confines of traditional painting.

The Impressionist Nook is a unique gift destination, special to Upper Hutt. All proceeds from your purchases and donations directly support the exhibitions, programmes, and activities we deliver for our communities.

Gift Vouchers Terms and Conditions

  • All Whirinaki Whare Taonga Gallery Store gift cards are physical cards, printed and activated once purchased. Please treat the gift card as cash. Lost, stolen, altered or mutilated gift cards may not be replaced, refunded or redeemed.
  • The minimum gift card purchase is $20.00.
  • Once purchased, this gift card can be redeemed on items sold in the Whirinaki Whare Taonga Gift Store only.
  • This gift card cannot be used to purchase tickets to any of events hosted at Whirinaki Whare Taonga and sold through iTICKET.
  • Gift cards must be presented at the time of payment to be redeemed.
  • Gift cards are not redeemable for cash and any money that remains on the card will be used for future purchases.
  • We will retain your gift cards number, as well as any other information provided during the checkout process, in order to keep track of your gift cards balance. Any information provided will not be used for our database nor will it be provided to a third party for any reason.
  • Funds available on a card will be verified on request or a time of use by Whirinaki Whare Taonga reception.
