Richard Mapp (piano), Yury Gezentsvey (violin), Donald Maurice (viola) & David Chickering (cello).

The members of the New Zealand Piano Quartet has distinguished individual performance careers and are faculty members of the New Zealand School of Music.  The Quartet has performed for Chamber Music New Zealand and recorded Naxos.

comic concert pianist David Scheel in Concert

Australian comic concert pianist David Scheel will visit Expressions to join music lovers for a Piano Fundraising event during his North Island Tour.  The show includes a brilliant mix of the classics, send-ups of the classics, and topical/social satire.  Don't Shoot Me ... features, among other things, a piece by Andrew Lloyd Webber and a piece by Bach, played at the same time, one with the right hand, the other with the left hand; a popular folk tune played in the styles of Mozart, Rachmaninoff, a Sony Walkman and a blues, and comedy routines on anything from corporate sponsorship to supermarket culture.  Pure music lovers will not be short-changed.

RAPT WITH PAPER

3 August - 16 September 2007

This exhibition reflects the versatility of paper as a medium for art making.  Artists featured are Sheelagh Leary from Upper Hutt, Mark Lander from Rangiora (originally from Upper Hutt) and Prue Townsend from the Kapiti Coast.

The works featured demonstrate how paper making can be intrinsic component of the creative process.

Prue Townsend Artists Workshops

This workshop will be held at Archibald's Art School above Archibald's Art Supplies, Main Street, Upper Hutt.

$30 per person plus some materials

Prue Townsend will be teaching a class on handmade made paper and its possible applications when creating mixed media art works.

Needle culture maps a journey through the world of international stitching created by members from the Upper Hutt Embroiderers Guild.  The exhibition utilises stitches originating from different countries and also depicts a range of overseas scenery.
