NEW
ZEALAND HIGH SCHOOLS
JAZZ
ORCHESTRA
Returning
again to Expressions following last year’s very successful concert,
the New Zealand High Schools’ Jazz Orchestra will perform in concert
under Musical Director Vaughn Roberts, one of New Zealand ’s foremost
musicians and arrangers.
The
orchestra, selected by audition New Zealand wide, includes the very
best of the country’s jazz musicians. This year’s orchestra has
a number of musicians from Wellington secondary schools including
Hutt Valley High School , Onslow College , St Mary’s College, Tawa
College and Wellington College .
Last
year’s programme featured jazz arrangements of several New Zealand
pop and traditional tunes. With Vaughn Roberts back again as Musical
Director this year’s programme will feature more of Vaughn’s exciting
arrangements.
If
you enjoy big band music then this orchestra will provide you with
a musical experience you will not forget. While young, all the orchestra
members display exceptional talent. The feedback from last year’s
audience was that they were amazed at the standard of music and
the enthusiasm and maturity shown by these young musicians. This
is a concert not to be missed.
