JEANETTE WILSON - MEDIUM

Experience the remarkable abilities of medium Jeanette Wilson (TV3’s Dare to Believe) for yourself.

If you have ever wondered about death or about loved ones who have passed over, don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a two-hour phenomenon - Jeanette Wilson Live. There is nothing like attending one of Jeanette’s live shows to see and experience for yourself the healing that takes place when she passes on a message from a loved one in spirit world. It’s an inspiring evening of love, laughter and tears as she passes on the messages the audience thought they would never hear. If you want to receive a message yourself it’s a good idea to take along a piece of jewellery for the psychometry demonstration in the second half. “Above all - enjoy” says Jeanette “ if you are relaxed, you are more likely to receive a message.”

Tickets: $45 Adult & $35 Senior/Student

I TOLD YOU I WAS ILL

- Life & Legacy of Spike Milligan

Spike Milligan changed English comedy and blew raspberries at the notions of decorum and deference. Yet, behind the very public face, was a brilliant and a tortured visionary. Director Henkel engages the viewer in an intimate and deeply personal portrait of Milligan through the eyes of his daughters, his brother and his third wife Shelagh. Through their eyes we see the bigger than life comedian as a family man who also learnt to balance his genius alongside debilitating depression.  Movie length:  88 minutes.

YOUTHQUAKE

60's swinging London was home to young creative's in search of a new identity and freedom. The pill and Mary Quant's invention of the mini skirt inspired a new generation of independent young women.  Music revolutionised with the introduction of singles, pirate radio stations and bands like The Rolling Stones and The Who.  Film directors and artists such as  Antonioni (Blowup), Richard Lester (A Hard Day's Night) and Hockney led the revolution in film and art.  Youthquake is a nostalgic time-capsule of this exciting period of change with original concert cuts, and interviews with the trendsetters.  Movie length: 57 mins.

CHANCES OF THE WORLD CHANGING

An artist abandons his life’s work to build an ark filled with hundreds of endangered animals. Richard Ogust is a private conservationist whose obsessive maintenance of 1200 rare species of turtles and tortoises in his Manhattan apartment makes his own life increasingly unmanageable. The film begins with the discovery of his new calling to the forced

eviction from his apartment and his eventual quest to build a turtle preservation colony. His plans for the colony starts to unravel as his project becomes entangled with state officials and money starts to run out. His own life begins to also unravel and having reached a personal and financial breaking point, Ogust must now try to find a way to rebuild

his shattered life and ensure the survival of his precious

charges. In a wave of films sounding global alarm, THE CHANCES OF THE WORLD CHANGING is as much about the survival of the human species as it is the animal variety. The image of the 52 year old Ogust hunched over over crying by his freezer that doubled as a makeshift morgue for the dead turtles in his spartan NY apartment in the eviction scene is memorable and cuts to the heart of story. When the world stops caring, it does so at the risk of its own demise.

“ A deeply felt...poetic film...a wonderful piece”

LOMAX THE SONGHUNTER

Alan Lomax (1915-2002) is a hero but not in the traditional sense. He was a song hunter. Sensing that the world's indigenous music was on the point of being swept away by mass commercial culture, Lomax set out after World War II to draw the folk music map of the world.  He travelled around the world with his recording equipment hunting for the prettiest folk songs and the varied homespun musical traditions, especially songs passed mouth to ear for generations.

SONGBIRDS

Over the last 10 years , UK's female prison population has risen by 173%. Incarcerated women are more likely to suffer mental health difficulties and to self-harm than men. Nearly half have children under 16 and far more women prisoners are foreign - many of them drug mules.   Songbirds takes a new spin to telling the  stories of the inmates of Downview Prison in Surrey.  Mixing music and interviews, director Brian Hill, lyricist Simon Armitage and composer Simon Bolwell facilitate  each prisoner to find a unique musical voice. The result raises questions, not only about sentencing, but about the effectiveness of prison itself.  Movie length: 62 minutes.
