the council, Trust Committee and Friends organization to manage the development of a branding image, final name and logo.

Adam Blackwell, a Director of First Star Communications and Upper Hutt resident was engaged to provide professional services for this project. After much community input, focus groups and deliberations by the task force the focus on "Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre" was reached.

Ms Meek in explaining the background to the logo says we have incorporated the river and hills of Upper Hutt to give the logo special sense of place, which is distinctly Upper Hutt. The brush-stroke font on the main title represents the gallery and visual arts.

The X of "Expressions" stands out to represent a stylized person who could be a singer, dancer, actor or performer under a spotlight. We believe the image created is very friendly and positive which fits the criteria of making "Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre" inviting and accessible to a wide range of people, both participants and observers.

Ms Meek added that the Trust and Friends Committee have been working intensely on their plans for fund raising for the technical fit-out and ongoing programmes. Full details will be announced shortly when plans are finalized.
