New Director Appointed
Expressions Trust has appointed Stephanie Cottrill as Director
for the new Arts and Entertainment Centre.
“Stephanie will be well known to people in Upper Hutt through
her previous role as Community Development Officer at the Upper
Hutt City Council where she was held in high regard by community
groups” said Nicola Meek, Chair of the Trust. “This
is a huge advantage to us as she has great networks throughout
the city and is already thoroughly familiar with the project through
her years serving the previous Community Arts Centre Trust.”
Stephanie comes well suited to the position, having qualified
in facility management from Lincoln University. She has been responsible
for many community arts and cultural events, such as the very successful
multi-cultural festival and youth events series, which both promise
to become regular features on the Expressions calendar. Most recently,
she has worked at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and has recently
stepped down as Chair of the Hutt Valley Youth Health Trust.
“We are thrilled to have a director with Stephanie’s
skills, knowledge and enthusiasm. She is committed to our community
and has a proven track record for initiating and managing projects
which add to the vitality of the city,” said Nicola Meek.
Stephanie, who started work last week, has just returned from
a two-month tour visiting art galleries and museums in Europe,
full of ideas for the new centre. She will be based in the old
Community Art Gallery in Logan Street until construction is completed
next spring.
