Local team to operate Expressions Café
Well known in the local café scene, local women Denise
Forrester and Michelle Fahey will run the new café at Expressions
Arts and Entertainment Centre.
Known as Café ‘Cibo (pronounced Cheebow, the Italian
word for food) the menu will offer café style meals with
an emphasis on “fresh and funky” food. Café Cibo
is fully licensed, providing quality New Zealand wines and a selection
of New Zealand and boutique beers.
Michelle, who’s passionate about coffee, says their boutique
style New Zealand roasted organic coffee “Leonardos” is
sure to find favour amongst the discerning coffee connoisseurs
of Upper Hutt.
“Café Cibo is a place where everyone will find something
to their liking” says Denise. “We will also be offering
catering for corporate of private functions booked at Expressions
and elsewhere”.
The sunny outdoor courtyard adjoining the café, and lively
atmosphere created by the centre attracted the pair to tender for
the lease. Expressions Director Stephanie Cottrill says they are
ideal candidates for the café. “Michelle and Denise’s
passion for excellent food and beverages, and depth of experience,
combined with a focus on customer service was exactly what the
Trust was looking for.”
From 2 September, Café Cibo will be open Tuesday to Sunday
from 8.30am to 5pm and on show nights for preview and interval
drinks and light meals. “We are looking forward to a busy
first weekend, with the opening of Expressions and the excitement
of the Spring Festival in town.” says Denise. Enquiries can
be made on telephone 021 302 770.
