PIG
HUNT
There’s
more to life than hunting - yeah right!
Rob
and James love nothing more than getting together to tell their
hunting stories over a few beers. They love getting out into the
bush with their dogs, for them hunting is like a religion. But things
are changing in the valley at the bottom of the hill. The butcher’s
shop is struggling to compete with Pak’n’Save Petone and Rob is
struggling physically to keep up with his beloved dogs. Then the
old girlfriend turns up.
PIG
HUNT was written by Brian Hotter, who grew up in Wainuiomata around
a lot of staunch hunters. The play is directed by Kerryn Palmer
(who directed the exciting Stab production “Sniper” in 2005). It
has accomplished Wellington actor Jason Whyte as Rob, with Jamie
MaCaskill as James and Rapai Te Hau as Donna. A top design team
headed by Brian King (recently designed “Finding Murdoch” and “Othello”
at Downstage) promises a visceral experience to anyone who fancies
the scent of bush in their nostrils.
Producer’s
warning - Unless you’re rough as guts the language may
offend.
