EDUCATION AT EXPRESSIONS WHIRINAKI
School visits and education at Expressions Whirinaki Arts & Entertainment Centre
Expressions Whirinaki school programmes are designed to provide New Zealand primary and secondary students with learning experiences which compliment student learning in alignment with the national curriculum.
With over 120,000 visitors a year, Expressions Whirinaki is a bustling creative hub. Our exhibitions strive for the highest international exhibition standards in visual art practices and we want to share them with your students.
Supporting creative learning in schools
We encourage all schools to visit Expressions Whirinaki and participate in a booked education programme with our schools educator. We have an exciting range of programmes available throughout the year and will customise a programme especially for your class and your students. Not only do our programmes reflect exciting artworks, we also work hard to link them to topics taught at school and the NZ curriculum, so you are sure to experience something that is fun, creative and educational. Most of our exhibitions come with a teacher resource pack with curriculum links itemised, core competencies listed and pre and post visit activities.
Our schools programmes are both fun and educational and vary to suit students from year 1 to 13, and can include a hands-on art activity. Students are encouraged to share and discuss their ideas about the art they have seen or the ideas they may explore and learning is extended as students are invited to participate in a practical activity which relates to what they have seen and discussed.
Remember, most programmes are flexible and can be adapted to meet your students' needs, so please discuss this with our educator.
